All EDEL’s artificial grass tennis surfaces are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, subject to the playing surface being used in accordance with the guidance for use and maintenance.
ITF Surface Pace Rating
We supply artificial grass tennis courts with ITF pace ratings of 2 (medium) and 4 (medium-fast).
EDEL Elite Tennis Courts
We install a range of artificial grass products that have been developed by Dutch Company EDEL Grass to suit several different sports.
The carpets are manufactured using pile consisting of either polypropylene (PP) or polyolefin (LSR) yarn. The pile may be straight or micro-curled (shape of a small spring) and by varying the pile length and density, made to suit sports with different performance requirements. In most cases the pile is tufted into a polypropylene backing and fixed with latex that is then perforated with hot spikes to provide positive drainage holes.
The polyolefin yarn (LSR=low slide resistance) is more durable than polypropylene, with greater flexibility across a wider temperature range, is softer and less abrasive. It no longer has a price premium over (PP) products and is the best choice for some sports, with a longer warranty period from the manufacturer.
The carpets are supplied in rolls that are joined on site, normally using fibreglass jointing tape and sports adhesive. The carpet is loose laid (i.e. not bonded to the base) with a full or partial silica sand infill to support the pile and hold the carpet in place.
For tennis, high density short (typically 10mm) micro curled pile is best in terms of performance and reduced maintenance. The carpet is manufactured in kit form with integral play lines to minimise the number of joints. Now available in PP or LSR yarn.
