Fencing outdoor facilities

The fence provides a rebound function as well as ball containment and should be at least 3.0m high generally, 4.0m high behind and to each side of the goals. The rebound function may be limited to panels for the bottom 1.2m of the total fence height, with a lighter weight (usually weldmesh) ball catch above, or a full height fence with sufficient strength to provide a rebound function at the lower level. Ideally recessed goals should be provided and if possible a gap opposite the centre line to allow substitutions to be made with the minimum disruption.

Equipment

A pair of goals is required - width 3m (minimum) to 5m (maximum)and height 1.2m (minimum) to 2m (maximum) measured between the 80mm wide goal post faces supporting nylon netting. The goals will usually have either fixed or folding end frames. It is essential that the goals are fixed to avoid overturning (which has caused fatal injuries). The goals may have extended posts that can be inserted into sockets, otherwise weights or tethers can be used. There are also goals manufactured with an integral counterweight back rail to avoid accidents.

Other items to consider

Floodlighting, litter bins, signage, foot cleaning and maintenance equipment.
