Apetti Tennis and Canterbury High School

Proflex at Appeti Tennis and Canterbury High SchoolApetti Tennis approached the Canterbury High School, a specialist sports college, with the idea of a Tennis Academy. Run as a community project, the aim is to open up tennis to the community and pupils of the school alike: a true public and private partnership.

The aim of the Academy is to combine the academic and sporting facilities of the school with the full time coaching skills of Apetti Tennis. Members of the public are able to use the facility, on a pay and play or membership basis, evenings, weekends and during school holidays. Membership of the facility includes use of all courts as well as social membership to leisure facilities elsewhere on site.

The indoor development provides two indoor courts, three outdoor and a pavilion for use by players and spectators.

A CopriSystems dome shaped sports cover was chosen to provide year round weather protection for the Tennis Academy and as an aesthetic addition to the facility.

Canterbury High School appointed Trevor May Contractors Ltd as Main Contractor, working in partnership with CopriSystems for the Design and Build of the project, following competitive tenders. Trevor May Contractors Ltd undertook all of the ground works and court construction, including the concrete ground beam ready to receive the steel structure and fabric covering, which was assembled and erected on site in just two weeks.

proflex01The indoor courts have a Proflex® cushioned impervious acrylic playing surface, a top of the range performance surface suitable for play at all levels up to the highest standard. The resilient surface is ideally suited to young players with developing bones and joints and extended training periods for aspiring players. Lighting, to LTA standards, has been installed providing an ideal playing environment day or night, all year round.
