ACRYLICS

Acrylic tennis surfaces have long been one of the preferred surfaces for top level tennis play and coaching. The tighter tolerance on surface levels and the consistency of the surface make it a high performance surface that is used at many of the Grand Slam venues around the world.

Traditionally, acrylic surfaces are impervious, installed over a dense macadam base with the possibility of some form of cushioning being interposed between the macadam and the acrylic to give a resilient surface. The amount of cushioning needs to be appreciable to give tangible benefits; systems that offer very low levels of cushioning are difficult to justify in cost terms. It is important, particularly in the UK climate, to appreciate that acrylic courts will puddle during rainfall and excess water will need to be removed if play is to restart quickly after rainfall ceases.

Porous acrylic surfaces are becoming more widely available, including some cushioned types that have the great benefit that they avoid the need for water removal. However durability and maintenance issues will be more in line with other types of porous surface, less like impervious acrylic.

We install acrylic surfaces in all of the categories, cushioned and un-cushioned, porous and impervious, sourcing acrylic products from the UK, America or Australia to suit the specific requirements of each individual project.
